A Guiding Light in Challenging Times – You Don't Have to Navigate the Dark Alone

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Klara's Lighthouse.

My name is Janina, and I am the therapist behind Klara's Lighthouse.

My journey to psychotherapy was a personal one. I know from my own experience what it feels like to face difficult life changes and to sit with struggles which feel overwhelming. Therapy helped me, and that experience gave me something no qualification alone can teach: a deep, genuine understanding of what it means to be a client, and how transformative the right support can be.

I offer therapy in English and Hungarian | Magyar nyelvű terápia is elérhető.

Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships

My qualifications reflect a thorough, progressive training journey, from hypnotherapy through to counselling and psychotherapy, giving me a rich, layered understanding of how to support you effectively. I hold:

BSc (Hons) Psychology

Prince's Trust Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Introduction to Counselling Skills

Prince's Trust Counselling Skills and Theory

King's Trust Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice

I am registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and the Hypnotherapy Society, so you can feel confident that your care meets recognised professional standards.

A Personal Note to the Name

Klara is a name which holds deep personal significance to me-carried by the women in my family who shaped who I am. I chose this as a quiet tribute, and a reminder of the values they embodied: warmth, strength, intelligence, kindness, and the courage to keep going.

As for the lighthouse-to me it represents exactly what I hope therapy can be: a steady, guiding light when there is darkness and waters feel rough or unpredictable.

My Approach to Therapy

I work pluralistically, which simply means I don't believe one size fits all. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor everything to you, your personality, your needs, and your goals.

Person-Centred Philosophy

At the heart of my practice is a person-centered philosophy focusing on individual differences. I am here to walk alongside you, not to direct you. I believe wholeheartedly that you hold the answers within you; my role is to create the conditions where you can uncover them safely. Solutions which come from your own insight and authentic self are the ones which truly last.

Integrating Hypnotherapy

I also integrate hypnotherapy where it may be helpful, offering a gentle, evidence-informed way to work with the deeper patterns which talking alone cannot reach.

An Inclusive Space

I support all adults regardless of gender, sexuality, background or identity. I work with an LGBTQ+ charity and have done so since my placement training. This ongoing work has given me both formal training and deep, real experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, including those navigating identity, family relationships, discrimination, and the unique pressures which can affect mental health and wellbeing. You are warmly welcome here, exactly as you are.

How Therapy Can Help You

Sometimes life brings challenges which feel impossible to carry alone; anxiety which won't quiet, a low mood which won't lift, or relationships and life changes which leave you feeling lost or uncertain. Therapy offers you a safe, confidential space to explore these feelings without fear of judgement.

Together we can work towards:

Greater self-understanding-uncovering patterns and beliefs that may be holding you back

Reduced anxiety and stress-developing tools and insights that bring calm and clarity

Improved mood-finding light even in the darkest of times

Stronger relationships-understanding yourself and others more deeply

Navigating life transitions-finding your footing during times of change

Authentic self-reconnecting with who you truly are

Therapy is not about being fixed. You are not broken. It is about being truly heard and finding your own way forward at your own pace.

I attend regular clinical supervision, which ensures my practice remains reflective, ethical, and of the highest standard. I also believe that by continually learning and growing, I am better placed to support you.

Services & Fees

Pluralistic Psychotherapy

Pluralistic therapy means your sessions are built around you; it is not a rigid method or fixed programme. Drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches, I work with you to find what resonates, what helps, and what feels right. This might include person-centred work, CBT-informed thinking, mindfulness, psychodynamic exploration, or solution-focused conversations-often a blend which evolves as you do.

This approach is particularly effective for:

  • Anxiety and stress-including worry, overwhelm, panic, and burnout
  • Depression and low mood-feeling flat, hopeless, or disconnected
  • Relationships and life transitions- navigating change, loss, relationship difficulties, or finding your direction.

Fee: £50 per session

Hypnotherapy

As a certified hypnotherapist registered with the Hypnotherapy Society, I offer hypnotherapy as a standalone or complementary approach.

Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind to gently shift unhelpful patterns, build confidence, and support deeper change; it is particularly useful for anxiety, habits, fears & phobias and emotional blocks.

Fee: £60 per session

Coming Soon-Personal Growth Workshops

I am pleased to announce that later in 2026 I will be offering Action-Oriented Self-Awareness and Personal Growth Workshops in collaboration with a psychodrama trained colleague. These unique in-person workshops will offer a powerful, experiential approach to self-discovery, personal growth and meaningful change; going beyond traditional talking therapy to help you connect deeply with yourself and others. Places will be limited. If you would like to be among the first to hear when bookings open, please get in touch to register your interest.

What my clients say...

Frequently asked questions

What is Pluralistic Therapy?

Pluralistic therapy means there is no single fixed approach; instead I draw on a range of evidence-based methods and tailor everything to suit you. We work collaboratively to find what helps most, and this can evolve as you progress. You are in the centre.

What is Hypnotherapy, and is it like stage hypnosis?

Not at all! Clinical hypnotherapy is a calm, evidence-informed approach which uses a deeply relaxed state to help you access and gently shift unhelpful thoughts and patterns. You are always fully aware and in control; it is nothing like the dramatic stage performances you may have seen on television.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions take place via secure video call; I will send you a link ahead of your appointment. All you need is a quiet, private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera. Many clients find online therapy just as effective as in-person and more convenient.

How long are the sessions and how much do they cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes long.

• Psychotherapy: £50 per session

• Hypnotherapy: £60 per session

A certain number of concessionary places are available for those on lower income, please get in touch to discuss.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which helps build momentum and trust. As you progress, we may move to fortnightly or monthly sessions; we will review this together and it will always be your choice.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies greatly from person to person. Some people find significant benefit from a handful of sessions; others prefer longer term ongoing support. There is no one size fits all - we work at your pace and according to your needs.
